Recruitment

The application process for the 2025-2027 Northern Ireland Youth Assembly has now closed. We’re delighted with the response to our campaign and will be in touch with all applicants very soon.

We’re grateful to everyone who shared our social media posts, gave presentations in schools and encouraged young people across Northern Ireland to help shape their future by getting involved.

All applicants will be notified by Friday 9 October. 📩

Climate Action Plan Consultation

On Friday 26 September, Youth Assembly Members had the opportunity to attend the launch of the draft Climate Action Plan at a consultation event hosted by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), facilitated by Youth Action. The event was a fantastic opportunity to engage, share ideas, and connect with other young people who are passionate about shaping a more sustainable future. Our Members had a great time listening and contributing to the discussions. Thank you to DAERA for the invitation.

Coming Up

The next few weeks will be incredibly busy with exciting events for our outgoing Members and plenty of induction opportunities for our new cohort!

1. Dilapidation Bill: Members will take part in an online meeting with the Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to discuss the Dilapidation Bill, which addresses the impact of neglected buildings on local communities. This is a chance to share ideas and help shape recommendations for future policy.

2. Stormont Cyber Café: On Wednesday 8 October, Members will attend a youth-led roundtable discussion hosted by Children in Northern Ireland at Parliament Buildings. This informal event will explore online safety issues including privacy, online harms, and the responsibilities of tech companies.

3. Final Plenary: Our final plenary of the 2023-2025 mandate will take place on Saturday 1 November at Parliament Buildings.

4. Youth and Policing Partnership Form: Members will attend a planning meeting at the beginning of October ahead of a meeting with the PSNI in November.
